Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

-- Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)

Our Winter Retreat this year will be from 1/30/09-2/1/09. We'll be heading up to beautiful Toah Nipi Retreat Center in Rindge, NH for a weekend of time with God, rejuvination and fun. We're excited to welcome our speaker Lisa Espineli Chin, the director of International Student Ministries with InterVarsity. She was a keynote speaker at Urbana '03 and 06, InterVarsity's national missions conference. Lisa is a visionary who has a particular heart for international students. She also serves on the board of HOPE International, a non-profit organization focused on poverty alleviation through microenterprise development. Lisa was a Filipeno international student, is married to a Chinese-American man and together they have three children.

We're still brainstorming a topic but it's sure to be along the lines of faith and what it means for your life. If this is your first time at a retreat with AACF be sure to take advantage of our first-timer discount code: FIRSTTIME.

Celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ :)

Large Group

Friday 07:00pm - 09:00pm, 14 December 2007 in Emerson 210

As students, schoolwork is incredibly important to us, but as Christians, we're not exactly sure how exactly it fits in with God. Jesus promises fullness in our lives, but sometimes, school can feel like drudgery. This Friday, Finny Kuruvilla will be speaking to us about the spirituality of school and what God and the Bible have to say about being Christian students. Finny graduated from CalTech, received a masters at MIT, and became an MD/PhD through Harvard Medical School, and is no stranger to schools with overloaded expectations and insane workloads.

Afterward, Jon Tam will put on the annual AACF Christmas Play for our AFA (After Fellowship Activity)! We'll have special Christmas food and drinks! Come watch your AACF brothers and sisters perform in this special production with us!!

Darfur Fast: Thanks to everyone who donated last Friday to Darfur. We were able to raise $200 toward helping those who are suffering from the genocide in Darfur. Please continue to pray for them and their families and an end to the violence.

Friday 07:00pm - 09:00pm, November 16 2007 at Adams LCR

Large Group

Friday 07:00pm - 09:00pm, 9 November 2007 in Emerson 210

God has a call for our lives! This call is not just for what we do ten years from today, five years from today, or even one year from today. His call for us is right here at Harvard, right now! Discerning that call, however, can be difficult and downright frustrating, but figuring it out and following it can become the best decision of our lives. Our speaker, Chris Sherwood, is an assistant pastor at Park Street Church.

Join us afterwards for THE 2007 AACF FOOD OLYMPICS!!!
Held once every four years, the Food Olympics are a time-honored tradition of AACF, where individuals and classes battle each other in drink chugging, food eating, boba shooting, and more! The class who ultimately wins will not only bring honor to their family names, but also win a SECRET PRIZE!! So prepare your body, soul, and spirit for this ultimate challenge of stomach-strength and will-power.

Large Group - Missions Experience (Joint with HRCF)

Friday 7:00pm - 9:00pm, 26 October 2007 in Sever 113

Last Friday, we heard about what it takes to change the world. This Friday, AACF and her multi-ethnic sister fellowship, HRCF will be joining together to share stories of a changed world. Students in AACF and HRCF who spent their summers in countries like Bolivia, China, and India, trying to make an impact on the poor, the sick, and the hungry, will be sharing how they changed, and were changed, by the world that they went to. There will be some musical worship, a short talk, and then an informal "fair" type event, where you can go to different rooms and hear about these adventures first hand.

Afterward, we'll be having MOVIE NIGHT!! The movie is still a surprise, but there will be food and great company!!

Fridays in October

Friday 05.30pm, 19 October 2007 in Adams Lower Common Room

You've made it to Harvard, but now what? What does it take to really make a difference in this world? This Friday, we're having our first outreach large group of the year: Friday's In October! The program for the night will feature a free home-cooked Thai dinner as well as a talk by Pastor Enoch Liao, who has truly made a difference in Boston's Chinatown and elsewhere.
